Very frustrating and confusing interview experience. I initially applied for an EL2 Treasury role and was told that the position had already been filled. Later, I was contacted again and told the role was still open, only to be informed during the interview that it was actually never filled but parked away and that I should instead now consider lower-level roles (EL1 / IC4) with reduced scope and compensation.
The process felt highly disorganised and misleading.
There was also a clear contradiction between the company’s public messaging around flexible working and what was communicated in the interview. Despite promoting flexibility, I was told that 3 days per week in the office is mandatory, with little room for discussion.
Additionally, the tone of the interview was unexpectedly confrontational. Expressing surprise about the role change and office expectations seemed to be met with hostility rather than openness.
This whole thing felt it lacked transparency and professionalism.
