I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Wise (Tallin) in Mar 2024
Interview
The longest selection process for a summer internship I've ever had – over 2 months! Submitted my application in January, and it took 2-4 weeks for HR to invite me to the next stage. Went through an asynchronous technical test (SQL and general knowledge, logic, IQ test kinda), then an asynchronous culture fit check (recording 4 videos answering prompts about Wise, motivation, problem-solving, etc.), then got a massive take-home task that required analyzing Wise's data, creating a user funnel, and forecasting trends into the future. They gave me a week to do this task using any language I wanted - SQL, Python, or directly in Sheets. I had never done forecasting before, so I had to learn it from scratch, and it wasn't perfect. Then, once I got the final interview, there were 2 serious sad faces who only introduced themselves professionally and directly jumped into the assessment (presenting the take-home task and interrogation) and some motivational/SQL skill questions. They asked me about the theory behind the forecasting models (which I wasn't too clear on) and the way I treated outliers (which I didn't know the dataset they provided was actually incomplete and I should have removed an outlier) and asked weird questions about how one can make decisions based on the prediction done in the take-home task. Still didn't get the offer at the end.

Question 1
What's your previous experience with SQL? My team works a lot with it.
Did you also consider all other possible combinations for the funnel and relevant variables driving the (outcome variable of interest in the take-home task)?
