The process took 1 day. I interviewed at VMware in Jan 2012
Interview
I was referred by one of my friend in this group.
The manger seems interested in what I have done in my phd study.
After briefly discussed with him about my projects, he started to ask
me general technical questions. I have answered some of them including
how to implement a semaphore, spinlock, read write lock, interrupt, etc.
I guess I was rejected.

Question 1
How to implement a semaphore using mutex and conditional value by pthread?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at VMware (Austin, TX) in Dec 2011
Interview
I had 3 different internal recruiters I worked with which added to the complexity of the process. I interviewed with 12 sales people over 6 weeks. The role was new to the company and I felt they did not know exactly what they were looking for and could not address a lot of the specific questions about the position, understandable because it was a new position.

Question 1
Describe your biggest win. How did you overcome obstacles?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at VMware (Palo Alto, CA) in Dec 2011
Interview
CRAZY company.
Both my phone interview and team interview went well and they informed my about the "next step" which will be a second round interview. Next, after 3 weeks later, I just got a short email stating that the team has re-accessed that position and not willing to move forward with me!!!
My question then why did you talk about "next step" ???
It is not that I am out of job or begging a job from them - but some professional communication is rare there.
It is a bureaucratic company who got some cash in their hands - but lacks of decent, bare minimum professionalism.
