I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at VMware (Palo Alto, CA) in Jan 2015
Interview
I was reached out to by a recruiter for a short screening. Very simple. I then went to meet with 3 members of the VMware team in Palo Alto. It was all a bit rushed, they proceeded to ask me a number of questions. It was mostly stuff on background, no case studies were involved. Curious about why VMware.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at VMware (Atlanta, GA)
Interview
The recruiters are very nice, but will promise you anything. The job that I was actually interviewing for was not in the Proposal group, but I did interview with them so that they could have input. Before coming onsite, the hiring manager had me research and write a one-page thing on iOS. After a quick tour of the offices, I spent about an hour with various hiring managers.
After the first week of in-house training, I found out that I was reporting to the Proposal group. I soon found out why turnover was very high in the Technical Proposal Group.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at VMware (Palo Alto, CA) in Nov 2015
Interview
30 minute HR screening via phone
1 hour hiring manager interview via phone - personality/situational, experience questions
3-4 hours of follow-up interviews via phone - personality/situational, experience questions
2 hours of 'final round interviews' via phone - personality/situational, experience questions
Flew out to HQ to 'meet the team' - by this point, I felt confident that things were close to final and I was pretty much accepted after spending 9 hours interviewing plus 1.5 days traveling.
Did not receive an offer but was told they wanted to find another role better suited for me.
2 hours of interviews for new role via phone (they tried to minimize interview cycle after acknowledging how much I had already interviewed, especially as it was in the same org)
Did not receive an offer in favor of an internal candidate.
