I applied online. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Mobile, AL)
Interview
One interview. When she called she looked at my availability wrong and tried to call me in when I was unavailable. That should have been my first clue. I came in for my interview and got hired on the spot and was told to call in and set up my new hire meeting with the GM. It's been 5 phone calls and 3 left messages later. I have not been called back. The hiring manager wanted me to talk to the GM, the GM told me that I am supposed to talk to the hiring manager. I used to be a hiring manager at another place, so I know it's not that hard. Get your crap straight.
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Smithfield, RI) in Sep 2013
Interview
I applied online September 9th and received a call to set up an interview September 14th (5 days later). My interview was on the 17th. I met with the manager for the new store at a different store within the plaza because this Ulta wasn't open just yet. She asked me "Why Ulta?" "Why Ulta and not sephora?" (because I had mentioned sephora during the interview) "What's the difference between them and us?" (KNOW your stuff for that one! Ulta is a full service beauty, Sephora is makeup and products mostly). "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" "What are you looking to get out of Ulta?" "If you've ever dealt with an angry customer, how did you handle it?" She also asked if I had experience with retail systems as well as shipping and order processing. She also went on to how she runs the store, how she expects you to be punctual, ready to be on the floor when your shift starts, and to put the customer first.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
She started with "Tell me a little about yourself"..which I never know how to answer since it's like what do you want to know, really?
