I applied online. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Durham, NC) in Nov 2013
Interview
Received a phone call asking if I was able to come in for an interview. Went in for the interview and was walked to the salon area and was instructed to sit and wait in a small room. A manager came in and asked a series of questions:
Tell me about yourself...
Tell me a time when you dealt with an angry customer and how did you handle it?
When's your availability?
Why do you want to work for Ulta?
How did your experience at (previous job) prepare you for working in retail?
Explain a time when you were faced with an unsatisfied customer and how you diffused the situation.
Why Ulta?
Of all the brands sold at ULTA, which do you use the most and why do you like them?
What products would you be least knowledgeable on and why?
I was also asked if I knew what kind of products that Ulta carried and ensured to use the terms "Prestige and Mass" Cosmetics in my answer.
She left and another manager came in shortly after and literally asked me the same questions. After the interview I was told that their decision was going to be made soon. Once I got home I received a phone call about an hour later from Ulta offering me the part time seasonal position. I accepted and went in to do my paperwork about two days later and went in for training that weekend...

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Savannah, GA) in Sep 2011
Interview
I came for the interview and the manager asked for details on the experience I had at my last job and in school. She reviewed my resume and flipped through my portfolio, then went straight into talking about the days and hours I could work. She especially wanted more information about my experience with the Redken color line.

Question 1
The interview was very casual, more of a conversation than an interview.
