The phone interview was one-on-one with the hiring manager. This was smooth and to the point. This conversation concentrated on competencies for the position, general expectations and personality fit.
The in person interview was a fairly standard behavioral interview.
Questions such as:
Tell us a weakness you have.
Can you describe a difficult situation and how you handled it?
Tell us about yourself.
Prior to the in person panel interview, lunch was served in the company cafeteria. This made for some strained small talk. I wore a suit to the interview but the panel (one person currently holding the position in a different region, and the hiring manager), were all casually dressed.
The interview just didn’t ‘click’ and by the end I think both sides were not interested in proceeding.
Over all, nice people and a nice operation, just not a good fit.
