I have over several years of retail department store management experience and over four years sales professional experience. I applied for the Store Manager position online because it is a Fortune 100 company and I think they have quality product that would be enjoyable to sell. I have a very clear resume listing my accomplishments as a manager. I received an invitation to phone screen for the Store Manager position. I spent quite some time researching the company to prepare for my phone interview, only to have it end after about 10 minutes. The shortest interview of my life. I was asked, What were your responsibilities at your previous job? Which were described extensively on my resume, but of course I answered the question. And the second and last question was, How do you coach? Which I answered thoroughly and professionally. Then she she stated do you have any questions for me? I was stunned that someone would arrange an interview and end it so quickly. It did not make any sense, except for the fact that when I researched this woman's store were she is the general manager, all I saw were 3 complaints about the lack of professionalism and issues with the management team. She then told me she saw my experience level to be that of one of their full time sales people. Rather than look at my resume and email me that she felt my qualifications, of three years of management experience, would be more suited to a FT sales position and ask if I would be interested in pursuing that, she wasted my time.
