I applied through college or university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Teach for America (New York, NY)
Interview
The interview process is rather long. There is an initial application followed by a phone interview, pre-final interview activity/test, and then an in-person/online interview. You will be asked to teach a topic for five minutes to your group interview peers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What was the hardest class you had taken in the previous year? Why was it difficult? And what you did to make it manageable.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Teach for America (Austin, TX) in Mar 2012
Interview
It was an intense process. Started out with an online app, then phone, and lastly in person. Rely on your ability to overcome obstacles and how well you work with others. I looked into their core values and gave examples on how I used them in my life. The in-person interview was a group interview and it was pretty tough.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Teach for America in Oct 2012
Interview
Lengthy. I had an online application and was forwarded directly to the final interview which consisted of a sample lesson, a group activity, and a one-on-one traditional interview. The final interview basically took an entire day. Most people have a phone interview after the online application, however. Not completely sure how they decide who to omit from this stage.
