I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Target (Los Angeles, CA) in Oct 2011
Interview
I first applied to this position in July on this year. I received an e-mail after, stating that all positions were filled and that I would receive a notice when a new position became available. Surprisingly, I did receive this e-mail in late September asking me to conduct a phone interview. The next week, the phone interview took place - in which I was asked three questions: 1) Why are you interested in Target? 2) Where do you see yourself in 3-5 years? 3) Give me an example of your leadership experience.
The next day I received a call to schedule an in-person interview with a store manager. 2 weeks later, this was conducted. I passed this and am now on to the final interview with the District Team Leader.
Behavioral questions. Behavioral questions. Behavioral questions. Also, have questions ready for the end of the interview.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target (New York, NY) in Jun 2010
Interview
Met the APBP in my college job fair and had a interview back a school just a few days after that. Was contacted shortly after that interview and was scheduled to meet with the APBP and the District Manager at the Home office about a week later. The meeting consisted of two interviews, first with the APBP himself and the Human Resources Business Partner where they ask grueling questions, NOT....Basically just gonna run through your resume and tell you that they once played sports too, which by telling about the way they look, they werent very good. Next interview is with the APBP again and also the District manager this time. Same set of questions, pretty much a meet and great, whoopty do. After this 2 hours process I was sent home. I recieved a phone call a few days later to go to White Stone somewhere I have no clue.....and meet the the vice president of human resources which was pretty much a hi and bye. Job offer was made the next day. Gladly accepted.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Jan 2011
Interview
I initially applied online and was then called back by the recruiter within 3 days. She was very friendly and on our first conversation she discussed in very good detail the ways of the retail world. Having never been in retail before, it was very helpful in making my decision to move forward with the process. We then had an official phone interview a week later that lasted approximately 45 minutes. This was a combination of personality questions and availability questions as retail hours are much more flexible than typical 9 - 5 businesses.
After passing the phone interview, I was scheduled a week later to meet with the Assets Protection Business Partner for an in person interview. That interview consisted of several questions that were in the S.T.A.R. format: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Most of those questions start with "Tell me about a time when...". Immediately after my interview with the Business Partner, I interviewed with the District Team Leader. This is the person who is in charge of group of Stores within a particular area. This consisted of more S.T.A.R. questions. After this interview I was asked to take an Intelligence Test. A few days after I took this test, I received an e-mail stating I passed and that I would be contacted by a recruiter. I was contacted a day after the e-mail was sent.
I was then scheduled for a job shadow with a local ETL-AP for approximately 2 hours. He showed my the basics of what really happens on the job and it was very interesting. Finally, I was scheduled for my final interview with the head of HR for the group and the Group Executive. Three days after that final interview I was offered the job; of which I accepted. I was then required to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation that took about 1 week.
Overall, it was a bit long for my liking, but all of the people I met were very kind and I don't regret 1 minute of the entire process.
