The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Target (Omaha, NE) in Apr 2010
Interview
First Interviewed with a store manager. he was pretty laid back, and mostly asked about experiences related to leadership and management.
I was then asked to interview a second time with the district manager and an HR person from headquarters. Mostly the same behavioral questions as the first time around. I felt like they had access to my first questions, so I tried to mix up the stories a little, but I think I should have stuck with my original instinct. First interview went much better than the first. All members I came in contact with seemed to be very competent interviewers and managers. If your preparing for this interview, think up as many situational stories as you can ahead of time.

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Target (Pasadena, CA) in Jun 2010
Interview
First I had a phone interview with a recruiter. The phone interview was pretty easy. As long as you know how to hold a conversation, they will most likely bring you in for a interview.
When they asked me to come in, they told me to expect about 2 hours of interviewing. However, the whole process took about 4 hours. At first they told me that I will interview with 2 people, I ended up interviewing with 4. I first interviewed with a recruiter, and then a store team leader. After that, I interviewed with a District team leader. When I interviewed well and they liked me, they had me interview with a vice president. That was definitely cool.
In between interviews, they had me wait in a breakout rooms. For other candidates, the recruiter kept telling them that they will "assess" or "reassess" their application and they will get a call. Though I am not sure, I feel like they were strong enough candidates and were sent home.
I think that a key to a successful interview is just being natural. Don't force it but be just hold a natural conversation. Answer the behavior questions in a STAR format and tie that into how that could be applied in a target store. Don't forget to ask good questions and DEFINITELY ask them about their previous experiences. You want to interview the interviewer -- Let them talk about themselves.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Target in May 2010
Interview
Target was pretty inviting and was very open to actually meeting me and trying to find out my background. I had applied online that day and got a call back for a phone interview within about 3-5 hours of submitting my application. After that was a series of interviews that took me from one level of management up and ended with me meeting the district team leader. It definitely was a very informative process because they always tell you more and more about the process and what the structure of the company was like. This helped a lot because then you were able to know how things were going to work when you joined the company as well as what the rest of the process was like.
