I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Target in Feb 2011
Interview
I am currently employed with a good job in the private sector, but stressful at times. I decided to post my resume on Monster.Com. I was not even seeking Target and did not know that they had an ETL position available until a Target recruiter contacted me by e-mail. Keep in mind that I had already posted my resume. I am an extremely busy person, I see and have 300 clients/meetings a month and I am in Court constantly. Wednesday comes- My first telephone interview: I get off work early and have someone else to cover my meetings for two hours. First, my recruiter that I initially talked to 'was out' and they had a substitute. Second off, the alternative interviewer, obviously did not read my resume prior to calling me because I had to correct her what my current position and employer was.She asked the wrong question and I had to correct her! Third, This interviewer was interviewing me from a different state (Minneapolis), and she had no clue about the location of the place that I was interviewing for (Georgia). I understand that there is a process for hiring, but at least know the area....so that you can understand what the interviewee is talking about. The interview consisted of numerous questions. Cannot remember them all:
1) What would your Employer say was your weakness? - I told them, that my employer would say that I work too much. The interviewer stated "anything else". I told her no. If she would have called my references, she would know that was the truth. LOL
2) Have you ever made a mistake and did you correct it?
3) How did you handle work conflict?
Least to say, after a 30 minute conversation...I get an email two days later stating that I was not considered for phase two of the interview process.
My advice to Target: Read over the person's resume prior to calling them for an interview. Don't waste someone else's time when they are way qualified, if not over-qualified for the position (graduate level) and that person does not even pass phase one of the interview process- especially if that person did not even seek you first.

Interview
All questions were behavioral. The interviewer seemed apathetic, maybe because I was the last one of the day. I think I nailed the interview, but never got a call back.

I was ok with an Interview itself but the skills test killed. I'm not really good in math and so over there you have to solve some meth problems... Hello!!! I've finished high school ten years ago... So, anyway... the problem with the test is that you can open it only once and can not close it until you finish it. So, be ready before you open it and have somebody who can help you with math if you are not really good at it.
