The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Target in Mar 2012
Interview
They are looking for a specific type of person.
Met someone at the career fair. Received an e-mail and asked me to take an hour long assessment. Set up a phone interview time with a Store Manager. Waited for the call for about 2 hours. Miscommunication on their end. Reset an interview time. Had 2 back-to-back behavioral interviews.

Question 1
Name a time when you had a conflict with a supervisor or peer.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Los Angeles, CA) in Nov 2011
Interview
Sent my resume via online, about two weeks later got an email from HR regarding setting up a time for an initial 10-15 Minute interview over the phone. During the initial phone interview, I was asked just a few questions like " are you available to work days, weekend and nights?" whats your weaknesses?, why do you want to work at Target?.' I passed and the interviewer set up an in-person interview at one of the store in Los Angeles a week later. Prior to the 1 on 1 interview I received an email from the HR on how to better prepare before the interview takes place(In my opinion they want you to help and success the whole interview process). They also sent me an online link for the skills test that you must take it prior to the in-person interview.
I was interviewed by 2 different managers with a few behavioral-based questions like "tell me a time when you had to handle conflicts at workplace?' Questions were really easy as long as you prepare and I was not well prepare at that time. When I walked out of the room I knew I didn't meet they're expectation. although, I learned a great deal out of their interview process. A week later I received an email that said they pursued another candidate. My simple advise to those who wants to work there is practice...practice and practice on your most complex leadership situations and experience!!
By just being in their office for about half hour I could sense they have a great work culture environment. And, I like how they address their employees with team members and the managers with team leader.
Good Luck!!

Question 1
Tell me a time when you had to handle conflict with co-worker?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Feb 2012
Interview
Your first interview is over the phone and it is a very simple pre-screening process involving questions like what are you strengths/weaknesses, where do you see yourself in 5 years, and had one behavioral question: tell me about a time when you had to work with a difficult co-worker and how you worked together to complete an assignment.
After that, they schedule you immediately for an in-person interview at a local district office. I came suited up and waited with a current Target employee in the waiting area before getting invited to interview. I was interviewed by one store team leader and the Target employee was interviewed by the other, and then we switched after answering 5 behavioral questions with one to go answer 5 more with the other. The atmosphere was comfortable and the interviewers were professional, albeit a bit scrutinizing. My answers were honest, but I could tell that they were trained to detect BS by paying attention to your eyes and body language. That being said, either my answers were too boring, irrelevant, and not extraordinary enough because I was emailed a rejection notice a couple days after that. I speculate that the position was offered to the Target employee that interviewed with me that day probably because she had more experience with the company and with retail in general. I will never know why I didn't get a 3rd interview but I did my homework here on glassdoor.com and the reviews and advice were extremely helpful in preparing me for the interview process.
