The interview process was quite standard... they asked the usual questions you ask for a retail position. The only 'red flag' was that I was hired on the spot. From being so well-liked during my interview to becoming the gum on my managers shoe, my first shift was hell. Bullying goes on here, not only from fellow associates but management too. It is an extremely toxic environment. Not only the store I worked at, but at head office.
For instance, if I had requested to book days off due to prior commitments, the manager would deny my request. Even if I would find someone to take that shift, the manager would refuse the approval for someone who is available and able to work my shift. The manager would pull out the swarovski handbook and explain why switching shifts was not allowed. My only option was to call in sick that day as I had prior commitments. They don't even care about the best interest of the store, sales, or customers. They are tied down by this ridiculous employee handbook. This company's management style was illogical and bazaar.
