I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Stanford University (Stanford, CA)
Interview
I was called for a 30-minute phone screen then heard nothing for a long while. They then interviewed me, with the Woods Institute for the Environment's communications director and the Natural Capital Project director of outreach. They couldn't tell me their specific goals for the position so I spun some scenarios. Then they asked conflicting questions. That told me they either weren't entirely logical in their process or they had already decided on someone else. It turned out to be the latter. BUT: They asked for more work samples. I emailed them. And then never heard back, even when I contacted them. How hard would it have been to send me a form letter style email letting me know they chose someone else? I later saw via their website that they chose someone from an impressive gov't agency but without the skillset they claimed to require. It was all a waste of time---for everyone.

It really varies depending on the department. I need to write 30 words on this, and I don't really know how to make it relevant to other students. I hope this is acceptable to access salaries on Glassdoor . This is a great way to harvest bad data, Glassdoor.
