I applied online. I interviewed at Stanford University in Sep 2020
Interview
Straightforward process, there was an initial phone screening and then an invitation for a formal interview. It was over Zoom. There were 2 interviewers, one per session. It was 45 mins each session.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked a lot of situational questions and questions about how to handle a particular type of person.
Interviewed with a number of different professors in predominantly relevant research areas. Each spoke about their own research and lab as well as asked about my previous experience and future goals. Overall, very friendly and aimed at finding the right fit for both parties.
Demeaning, boring, frustrating. They were extremely rude. I was often left to fend for myself with little guidance. Literally, the last guy (accidentally) spit in my eye. It was a fitting end to the experience. 1/10, would not repeat.
