Interview
Very rigorous interviewing process -- perhaps unnecessarily so. 1st round, Zoom interview with 5 interviewers. 2nd round, 8 straight hours of Zoom interviews including 10-person Zoom department meeting requiring significant advanced prep time to generate solutions to departmental issues.

Interview
I had a brief 15m Zoom meeting with one department head (not HR) for the first round. It felt very much like professional speed dating - they asked me about my background. Then they told me they to leave the call in 2 minutes and gave me time for one brief question. To me, it felt like I was never truly in consideration and this was merely checking a box. Perhaps I was wrong and just not the right fit. Compared to other interview processes in higher ed I've experienced, this was unique and not up to the same standard as other universities. I was surprised given Stanford's rep.
