I applied online. I interviewed at Slack in Mar 2020
Interview
I had an introductory phone call for an iOS dev position they have in Vancouver.
I was sort of excited about it since it's a cool company to look up to, but all of that went away after the first introductory call.
I felt like I was talking to a robot, the interview lasted about 15 minutes where I was shot 15 standard interview questions that expect default answers that tell no story.
The recruiter had absolutely no idea was she was hiring for - she was just reading information from a leaflet. When asked a few questions about company culture, what is like to work there, she clearly didn't know what to say.
It was the oddest on-site ever. They literally spent the entire time going over my resume line by line questioning all my choices in life to see how I got to where I am today. Super dumb considering when you’re 18-22 you’re most likely just trying to figure things out. Very little time was spent on my current/relevant experience and then we ran short on time. I never got a follow up call or response although I followed up with the recruiter and the people I interviewed with several times. Very unprofessional and disappointing for a company I thought so highly of.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (Naas) in Dec 2019
Interview
Such a great efficient process even through the Christmas holidays. Alan was fantastic and kept me informed along the way. An extremely enjoyable process over all.
The process itself gives you an opportunity to reflect on your career and what you have learnt over the years which is not something I experienced in such dept in other interview processes.
