I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Sephora (New York, NY) in Nov 2015
Interview
Hiring manager called for an interview within 2 days, when i got there it was actually a group interview that started 20-30min late and we had to stand by the door and just wait while others were shopping. Very unprofessional setting and the interview was interrupted about 6 times. We were told that they will contact us shortly with an answer and no one got back to let me know that I will or will not be hired. I tried to follow up and got no response. I feel that it is not unreasonable to answer someone quickly letting them know to move forward since some people actually want this job and are willing to pass on other opportunities.
I applied online. I interviewed at Sephora in Jan 2016
Interview
I first went in with two other girls for a group interview. We had to do an activity involving building blocks. One person looks at the picture for 10 seconds then describes what they saw based off memory. The other two try to build it. They must rely on the first person to use descriptive words since they are not allowed to look at the picture. This activity is to see how you work as a team and also your attention to detail. After, we were each given topics and had to pitch an idea of why ours would be successful. Next, they pulled me aside to an office for a 1:1 interview. This mainly consisted of customer service questions and role playing. After the interview, I actually had a meeting with the JCP store director all in one day!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself and why you want to work at Sephora.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sephora (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2016
Interview
Had an initial interview with a recruiter. About a day later I was asked to complete a copy test and a day after that I was asked to come in for an interview later that week. The process moved pretty quickly. The hiring manager who interviewed me was definitely NOT prepared for the interview which was upsetting since I made the drive all the way up there. She asked me maybe 2-3 questions and didn't know what else to say. She was super frazzled...maybe she forgot she was interviewing me that day? No clue, but I had to ask her a ton of questions to fill in the time. I don't feel like I got to really have a good shot of showing my best self because I wasn't asked anything! A week later the recruiter told me they passed because my edit test "wasn't up to par with what they're looking for." 1) My edit test was pretty awesome, I studied all of Sephora's emails prior to completing it so I know it was the right voice and tone, 2) WHY would you bring me in for an interview AFTER you saw my edit test if my edit test wasn't up to par? Super strange. And their office is old and dark with cubicles. Definitely not what I expected from a sleek and super editorial brand like Sephora.
