Smooth and Easy process
Multiple interviews
Interviews with multiple managers that made me feel comfortable
the office was welcoming and big
Received a tour of the entire campus. including a cafeteria. Recruiter prepared me to be successful every step of the way.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at SAS (Cary, NC) in Feb 2013
Interview
Took 2 months and went through 13 interviews. Most questions are about the culture. They want to know if you will comply and get along. They have nice smart people, but skills and experience is lacking. They have no idea there is a world outside of Cary.

Question 1
70% of the questions were around how you will fit in, not job experience.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at SAS (Cary, NC) in Feb 2017
Interview
The process was very long (more than six months). I wasn't in a rush to leave my last company though. If an internal candidate applies and meets the listed qualifications, the hiring manager has to interview the candidate, so the manager literally interviewed four or five dozen people for the role. I met with everyone on the manager's team as well as people from pre-sales and product management. I was referred by someone on the manager's team, and thus didn't really go through pre-screens with HR or anything like that. Also, I'm a bit of a unique candidate in the sense that I have a lot of deep specific industry knowledge already, with several publications and positions speaking on panel discussions, and my credentials weren't really questioned.

Question 1
They wanted me to do a role play where I acted as if I was reaching out to a client to pitch our software.
