Interview
Applied online for a summer internship, was invited to a phone interview within the next few business days. Standard interview questions were asked, such as what are my previous experiences, my predicted degree classification, my future goals and ambitions, what I could provide to Rolls-Royce etc. They asked a little bit about the company but seemed more interested in myself as a person and the potential for development, rather than somebody who can comprehend information displayed on a corporate website.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Rolls-Royce (Aberdeen, Escocia) in Dec 2015
Interview
I applied online, and was invited to the assessment centre in Derby, UK in the following months. The centre comprised of an interview, a 10-minute presentation highlighting my skills and abilities, group activity, re-take of one of the online tests, group activity and technical interview. The whole centre took from 8am-5pm.
The technical interview was by far the hardest part, I was given schematics of a basic oil pump system and asked what was wrong with it. I was also asked the definition and importance of the Mach number, what boundary flow separation was and what its effects are, as well as questions about how we know a system is safe, along with other questions.
Other interviewees were asked to calculate Eigenvalues, however I (thankfully) didn’t get this question.
