I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Robert Half in Nov 2023
Interview
The interview process itself was easy enough, considering I never contacted them in regard to the position; I was contacted out of the blue by a recruiter. I've actually been contacted by 2 recruiters from this company recently and both seem to have been taught very brusque tactics as neither ever said goodbye, but just disconnected the call. I get that "time is money", but "goodbye" takes a second and is just nicer. I feel like cattle being herded into the slaughterhouse to put dinner on their table and nothing more..
Anyway, after my interview, the recruiter contacted me, sounding super excited, to let me know that my interview went so well, the company canceled all others and the recruiter expected an offer. I hadn't heard anything by the end of the week, so I followed up first thing Monday morning via email and was told they decided to hire someone else with more experience.
I have two issues with this: 1) don't contact me and get me excited unless you reasonable think they are going to hire me (after my second email, I was told there were two other candidates being considered as if it had been a toss-up as to who would get it).
2) You contacted me about the position; close the loop with me. My understanding was that I never would have heard anything about the role again if I hadn't followed up. Ghosting is a common, albeit gross new trend in the hiring process and it needs to be reversed. We're all humans here; act accordingly.
I applied via LinkedIn and was surprised to get a message from a recruiter. The role was listed as hybrid and while I am currently not within the area, I decided to shoot my shot and fish around. Previous experience (not with RH) told me that there's always a possibility the organization will consider a remote candidate and/or at least interview someone who is willing to relocate, etc. (which was something I was open to doing for the right position).
Recruiter asked if I was going to move to the area ASAP and I replied that no, I was not moving until I had an offer. I assumed that would be the end of it, but the recruiter asked me to chat.
It was a phone call that really should have remained an email. It appears that the job posting was deliberately very vague and upon actually speaking with the recruiter, it seemed like a genuine fit as I did have specific experience the client was looking for. But, I confirmed again that I would not move until I had an offer and the recruiter said that the job was hybrid and would require at least some in-person work.
It was disappointing to see that remote/video interviewing was apparently not an option here and that again, everything I was told in this call could have been conveyed in the email. I would urge that the job post at least detail that a candidate must reside in the area to be considered at all.

Question 1
Very superficial interview about my interest, if I was moving. Call lasted 5 minutes maximum.
