I applied online. I interviewed at River Island (Leeds, England) in Dec 2014
Interview
I applied online and got invited to a group interview, it was held at a night club venue which made it seem very informal. There wasn't too many people there just enough to fill three tables/booths and everyone was between 16-24. Online however the job was advertised as part time permanent role but on the day it switched it a Christmas temp job.
I applied online. I interviewed at River Island (Birstall, Yorkshire and the Humber, England) in Apr 2015
Interview
Applied for the job online and the very next day I got an email asking to come in for a recruitment event, which was the following day at 4 pm. All in all the 'event' went pretty well as there was 8 of us in total, including the manager. I actually met a friend who was applying so it was nice to see a familiar face. We first were left to talk to each other and get to know one another as this is how we were being assessed. We did a couple of tasks, one being getting into pairs and finding out why one another want to work for RI, then feeding this back to the rest of the groups. The second task, we got into different groups and had to do a role play. One person being a customer and the other being a sales assistant, trying to help the customer with what they are looking for/ making them buy more than what they really need. After this, we were made to fill out the days and times we were available to work. This took an hour in total.
Disclaimer: I have yet not heard from them but I will update this once I find out whether I've got the job or not.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at River Island (Londres, Inglaterra) in Mar 2015
Interview
I applied online and the next day received an email to book one of two time slots for a group interview. I attended a group interview the Monday after that, and I enjoyed it. Everyone was nice, it was made quite fun. It lasted 2 hours. The only thing I would say badly about the interview, is that having a group interview meant some candidates were quite nasty at times. People stick together and laugh at you or whatever you say, in an attempt to make you feel not good enough for the job.
The interviewers told us we would either hear Wednesday night or Thursday morning, after they have interviewed the next group, and you would hear from them regardless of the outcome, either by phone if you are successful or by email if you are not.
They made it all sound really positive. There were 15 jobs available, and they got all our hopes up as they said they already knew what groups they would put us in in store.
I stared at my phone the whole of Wednesday night and Thursday morning waiting for either a phone call or email. Like many others on this website, it's week later and we still have received nothing. No call, and no email. Nothing to let us know either way. I have got in touch with the recruitment team, who say they are still awaiting feedback from the store, and that they have 'chased' it. I emailed them twice and they have been no help whatsoever.
Although the interview itself was okay, I have given this a negative experience because it has been nothing but a complete waste of time. River Island have wasted peoples time, and then continue to dishearten them because they then never bother to let people know. Don't bother applying for this company, unless you want to have your time wasted.
