I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at River Island (Londres, Inglaterra) in Jun 2016
Interview
My interview was with a group of about 15 girls. They firstly asked us to introduce ourselves to each other, so a little icebreaker at the beginning where you say a little about yourself. This was followed by a role play in which we had to demonstrate our knowledge of upselling (persuading a customer to buy something else in addition to what they are already buying or something more expensive) and the various methods you can use to sell more products to customers. We also had to explain what we understood by upselling and the importance of the term, e.g. to bring in more revenue for the company. They then asked us "Why do you want to work for River Island?" The interview ended with a one-on-one interview in which they asked us our availability and whether or not we are going on holiday.

Interview
I applied online in the evening and the next morning I received an email saying they would like me to attend a recruitment event. I chose my time for the recruitment event and arrived at the store. There were about 8 other girls also there for the event. We got shown to the staff room and the store manager ( from another store) introduced herself. We then did an icebreaker and we had to say who we are and a little bit about ourselves. ( It was not as awkward as I thought it was going to be!) We filled out a form with our availability on it, e.g the days of the week and also our availability over the Christmas period. We then got put into small groups and we had to do some role play activities where one person was the shop assistant and the other was a customer, we were not really watched so it was not too awkward! Then we were given a celebrity and we had to find them an outfit and then explain why we chose the outfit. We then went back up to the staff room and met our store manager who was lovely. She talked a bit about the incentives and the company. They said we would find out at the end of the day if we got the job. Luckily for me, I did although fewer hours than I originally wanted but hopefully can build them up more.
In the interview I have to say there were not many opportunities to 'shine' so don't be shy and be yourself.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at River Island (Swindon, Wiltshire, South West England, England) in Oct 2015
Interview
Had to prepare a SWOT analysis presentation before hand, to take to the interview. Then sat in an office with the store manager who asked standard questions you'd expect to be asked in any retail/retail manager interview. Then at the end talk through your presentaion.
