The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at River Island (Stafford, England) in Nov 2016
Interview
Online application, then received an email 2 days later which said my application had been shortlisted for the interview stage. Attended a recruitment event a week later.
The interview was group based with different activities you complete as pairs and then individually. In pairs you take it in turns to be the sales advisor and the customer. The 'customer' asks the 'sales advisor' for advice on clothing for themselves/family member/friend. The 'sales advisor must then choose an appropriate outfit for the 'customer'. You take it in turns to do this!
During the activity you may be observed by the interviewers or asked why you've chosen the outfit! There was then a second task where you're given a celebrity as an individual where you choose an occasion and an appropriate outfit. You then gather back as a group as justify why you've chosen the outfit.
After the tasks, everyone groups together to ask any final questions they may have about the job or job perks! (40% discount with a limit of around £150/£200 and a uniform allowance which is dependent on the hours you work, roughly £60 for 8 hours a week)! This may vary in different stores mind!
After a great interview with everyone, I received a phone call the next day with a job offer!
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at River Island (Llandudno, Wales) in Nov 2016
Interview
Really quick and easy! I applied online and got called to go for an interview 2 days later.. I went and I had a 1 to 1 interview which lasted about 5/10 minutes. They first asked me to fill in a form which asked 'why do you want to work here/why are you interested in fashion/how would you boost sales' (I researched a lot about the company before I went so I had answers prepared). After I filled in the form, my interviewer asked me some questions like 'can you explain what you're wearing' and 'how could I benefit the company' and 'what do you know about River Island?'. At the end I had a few questions ready so I looked engaged and interested! I waited around 3 days and got a call asking me to start the job in 2 days! If you've got an interview - make sure you're prepared, confident, friendly & enthusiastic and polite! Good Luck!
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at River Island (Londres, Inglaterra) in Nov 2015
Interview
Applied via a local recruitment agency. Was called in for a mock group interview and those who did well went for the actual interview. Was told to wear River Island clothing or what was close enough. The real interview was a group interview we were asked why we wanted to work there. What we though River Island represented and then we did a Roleplay exercise.
