I have interviewed several times with RedHat, as they are an amazing company with an amazing culture, and I'd get the opportunity to do work that I love. Unfortunately, the recruiting process I experienced several times with the recruiter has put me off the company.
I interviewed in late 2018 and completed the final round of interviews. The recruiter was unresponsive to my phone calls, emails, and inquiries on the status over a period of a month a and a half. I believe in 'thank you' emails, so I was unable to even send the team a thank you for their time. After 3 months of ghosting, I get an email saying the position has been put on hold. ( I have moved on by that point).
I was internally recommended for and applied for another PM job this year and was contacted by the same recruiter. Received a form letter at 9pm Wednesday prior to the 4th of July holiday asking for my availability that week. Everyone makes mistakes, right? Interview was scheduled and manager passed me a long to the final round over a month later.
After the final round, the recruiter ghosted again. My internal contact gave me the information to send the 'thank you' s and I've tried reaching out through phone and email. At this point, either they have offered the position to someone else or who knows? I was never able to pin down a salary range (I was told 'it varies'), nor was I able to pin down a timeframe for response.
Ghosting on candidates like this is completely unprofessional. I've spoken with others who have had this same experience. As the recruiter, they are the "face" of the company and while RedHat is supposed to be incredible to work for, this is a major red flag.
