Process
Three interviews took place.
The first with the hiring manager, went well however did not take an interest in me as a person, exclusively focused on role specific questions and left me concerned about working for him. Second interview with an existing senior rep was a much broader discussion and put some fears to rest. Tthe third interview (final before presentation phase) was with two staff outside of the sales org, both lovely people however on arrival begun interviewing me for the incorrect role! After I flagged this we had a good conversation and they confirmed the presentation phase would be next and they would be happy for me to move forward. From here after following up I was told I would be getting dates for the presentation. Politely chased once a week for 4 weeks and after being told each time dates would follow the final mail said that they had offered to an internal candidate.
It’s not a great way to treat candidates as there was lots of fine invested by me and all I required was some transparency’s
The role
Based on my discussions as they sell through resellers sellers have little direct customer interaction and ability to impact their numbers and the successful reps have been once with high renewal rates in RHEL. Hopefully have dodged a bullet as who knows what will happen once the IBM takeover begins to impact things.
