I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Quest Diagnostics in Oct 2021
Interview
Relatively easy interview process. I was contacted via recruiter and had an interview shortly. I chatted with the team I'd be working with, and was mainly asked questions about my career trajectory, culture preferences, experiences with software, etc. Lasted about an hour.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Tell me about your experience.
- Tell me about your certifications.
- Why did you leave your last job?
- What are some deliverables you have previously produced?
- How have you worked with SMEs in the past?
- What are your favorite and least favorite aspects of technical writing?
- What are you looking for culturally in a job?
- Are you familiar with the Agile method?
- Did you write any original content in any of your previous roles?
Quest sent me an email to set up an interview with the hiring manager. I was NOT told this interview would be a group interview but was prepared anyway so that did not bother me as much.
During the interview- 3 out of the 4 people interviewing me did NOT seem remotely interested in me or in their position and asked dull behavioral questions. One of the person interviewing me kept placing her mic on mute and had to be reminded MULTIPLE times to unmute herself when asking questions. No real technical questions or conversations about in-depth skills for the job. They mostly focus on why I left my periods position and was stuck on that mostly. I found this experience to be uncomfortable and unprofessional. They left a few minutes at the end for me to ask questions, so I asked a few but ended with “what do you enjoy most about working for quest” and most of them answered being “remote” as if that were the only selling point. Coming out of that interview I felt like Quest wasn’t a good fit for me considering how the group interviewers gave me a vibe that I wouldn’t belong or do well in this team since of our age difference (I’m young and most of them appear to be more experienced). Really disappointed in the interview process. Quest needs to do better.

Question 1
Background and some standard behavioral questions. They pry a bit and probe you with questions on why you left your previous position.
Interview length was two hours. I had one hour for each interviewer. The department chair and a manager. Took a tour of the facility with both the department chair and the manager. Very simple and straight forward process.
