Was invited to an "Open House" by an HR representative who reviewed my resume and the online video-based application I completed. Stood around for 30 minutes sipping a beer before one of the OpenTable managers actually spoke to me. Was asked "what brings you here?" and the nagging feeling that I was wasting my time was immediately amplified. I said I had applied for a bilingual CSR position and 30 seconds later the manager was talking to someone else. No one asked for my resume, or background, the only person that spoke to me pretended they didn't even know that I was invited. That made me wonder, "What am I doing here?" The whole thing felt terribly awkward, and furthermore, like it had been thought up by a 22 y/o college grad who borrowed the idea from their frat/sorority.
"What brings you to Alpha Gamma Gamma?!" "Well, you guys just seem soooooo cooooooool! Wow, is that a pool table?! Is that a bar?! Wow. Omg. Just wow."
No thank you. I should have opted for the phone interview.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at OpenTable (Denver, CO) in Dec 2017
Interview
Received email from a local recruiter asking to schedule 30 minute phone call. Promptly responded with dates & times that worked on the date she requested (6 Days Later). I waited 5 days with no response. Emailed again asking if we were still on for call the following day. I never heard back via email & never received a call the next day. Confused at this point, I email again. I get a response the next day with a phone call finally scheduled. The phone call was pretty basic. Asking questions about my prior sales experience & why I thought I'd be a good fit for the role. At the conclusion of the call she told me "We are going to skip the formal interview & invite you in for a OpenTable team building Meet & Greet." So I gladly accepted the invitation to this event (Again 6 days later). I attend the event & meet the team. I had a great time & felt really good about my conversations with the 4 Business Development Managers I spoke to while I was there. I also briefly spoke with the recruiter before leaving as well. I left feeling very positive about hearing back regarding an offer. To my surprise. Not Only did I never get an offer. I NEVER HEARD BACK AT ALL. I emailed right after event thanking for opportunity & then 2 times after that as well. Not a single word back. OpenTable is a company of COWARDS.

Question 1
What in your prior sales experience makes you a good fit for this role as a BDM with OpenTable?
I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at OpenTable (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2017
Interview
Spoke to recruiter at college career fair and was invited to on-campus interview shortly afterward. The interview was about 45 minutes and pretty casual, I got an easy technical question so moved onto the on-site interview. The on-site was basically a whole day: coding challenge in the morning, and three interviews in the afternoon - two technical, one behavioral/culture fit. After about a month, they got back to me with an offer.
