I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Old Navy (Portland, OR) in Mar 2015
Interview
It was a group audition with 3 other people including myself so 4 total. 3 girls, 1 guy.
I was the youngest of the group, the rest were college age.
We waited in the front of the men's section and then the manager came out and led us to the back.
The first activity was not to talk about the objects we'd brought and how they described us, but to find 2 things all of us had in common.
After about 4 minutes we discovered we all liked to hike and had siblings.
Then she said to pick as many tissues as we wanted from the box and after we did she said "now tell me a thing about yourself that you haven't already according to how many tissues you picked up."
I picked 3. So I said
how I love camping with my family every summer.
And how swimming is one of the main things of why Summer is my favorite season (which I'd asked before to see if it was one of the things we would have in common but it wasn't because both other girls liked fall better)
And how I'm in the youth choir at my church and I thought I'd hate singing but I actually love it and can't believe I was so wrong about it.
THEN we got to talk about the objects we'd brought and we they described us. The manager went first, she told a funny story about her cat getting stuck in the sofa and her fiancee having to dismantle it.
The older lady to my left went first, then I was second. Or third, if you count the manager haha.
I brought my longboard and I talked about how I was smooth and easy going and flexible just like a longboard.
After we'd all talked about our objects, the manager brought us on a tour of the store and all the different sections. After we'd finished and were back in the backroom she sent us out to grab outfits. I got an outfit for her imaginary daughter for Easter brunch. I grabbed a strapless white high low cotton dress with pretty gold foil design on it. I got gold gladiator sandals to match. A pink belt for a pop of color if need be, and a light wash denim vest. We then had to talk about our outfits and why we chose them, then go put them back. I was the 1st person back from choosing and 2nd from putting away.
We didn't have to sell the cards, the interview was over they asked if we had questions and we all asked 1 except for one of the other women there. The manager said we will be notified within 24-48 hours. I really hope I get it because the whole thing was laid-back, but fun, and the people all seem so great! (:
I was surprised they didn't ask about previous experience, or make us sell the ON cards. NO mention of situational questions either, which I was all geared up for. Not complaining though, this was only my second interview but it was very quick and fun! 1 hour total and I wished it were longer (:

Interview
It was a group interview of course. I had two of them, the first one was just a general thing to get us acquainted with Old Navy and how they like to do things. The second one was a bit more hands on with them telling us to give them details about ourselves and approaching customers.
