I applied online. I interviewed at NVIDIA (San Jose, CA) in Nov 2025
Interview
11 interviews over an 80-day period, ending with strong reviews and an offer negotiation with verbal offer. A few days later, they rescinded the offer and let me know that an engineer form the team will be taking the role instead.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Extremely banal questions and scenarios from interview blogs and books for each section: soft skills, system design, AI/ML, STAR, culture/fit, cros-functional (TPM/PM), and 3 distantly-related directors had oddball questions about their pet interests e.g. optimizing CUDA math libraries/runtimes.
Met on a zoom meeting for first round, second round were three separate meetings with engineers, third is with manager. Each round was deeply technical, ranging from rtl design to fsm design to theoretical architecture design.
There are 2 rounds:
- Round 1: 1h30m with experience checking, foundation knowledge, mindset
- Round 2:
- Session 1(Onsite): Asked about what I did at my university. The interviewer had a very bad attitude. Asked irrelevant questions and was very arrogant
- Session 2 (Onsite): The interviewer is a member of another team (Software Engineer), asking about the working process and knowledge in AI.
- Session 3: (Online) asking about how I use AI agents in work and QA process
- Session 4: (Online) asking about Linux commands, docker commands
I was really uncomfortable with the guy at session 1 of round 2. Very disappointed that a big tech like Nvidia hires a staff like that.
