I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Mastercard (New York, NY) in Jul 2022
Interview
Lack of professionalism from the very start. The recruiter I was working with barely responded and provided any information. I had to ask 3-4 times before getting a proper response
For my first interview, one of the interviewers didn't bother showing up. Had an hour call with hiring manager that went pretty well. Very easy to talk to
For the second interviewer, the same hiring manager ended the call 20 minutes in based on my previous experience (which was already known).
Lack of professionalism is the only way to describe this
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Questions on resume. Basic questions like POST/GET
The process starts with a HR call, then a 90 minute technical round where the team asked questions regarding Java, SQL, OOP Concepts and gives a coding problem, then final round with Hiring Manager.
It seemed like there was a lot of miscommunication within the team and the HR. They needed someone with an expertise in DevOps yet the HR didn't emphasize much on that. I made it through the technical round where the technical panel did not ask any questions regarding DevOps practices or tools either, but Hiring manager rejected me two minutes into the call because my prior experience in DevOps was not enough. It would have helped if they titled their position as DevOps engineer instead. Pretty disappointed!
