Read on LI recently that "smart companies have recruiting teams that continue to engage candidates even when there's an economic downturn and they don't ghost people". Well....apparently Mastercard doesn't have the brightest recruiting team then! Because after multiple interviews, and even being shifted to consideration for another similar role because the first was filled, the recruiter COMPLETELY ghosted me! This was after being told that I was the final candidate being considered and that if the last call went well, the role was mine - and the last call went EXTREMELY well! I understand if a role is done away with or there's no longer the budget for it, but being a good human would minimally require you to let a candidate know! Mind you, this is after multiple calls of the recruiter showing up late and her son being sick and missing calls. I get it - that's life. But to be completely ghosted with no update after weeks of reaching out, that's just plain rude. I dodged a bullet for sure!! Oh - and I was a referral by an internal employee. I can only imagine how they would have treated someone applying randomly. Leadership is going to lose access to a ton of talent simply because recruiting doesn't have their ducks in a row!
