Interview
Like non-profits companies it does take a while to go through the process. You need to be patient throughout the entire process. Even when they offer the job you need to have the background check to make it official. That process is a very long two weeks.

They verbally offered job but not official until background check which takes 2 weeks.
Oral interviews, where you are asked about previous job experience and reason for leaving. and the candidate is asked why he/she wants to work for MIT. the tell you what is expected of the candidates, and what the job entails.

There is also writen technical quize regarding his/her professional trades
I heard back very quickly and had an interview within the week. I was interviewed by the main heads of the department. The people were pleasant, but it took a long time to hear back after the interview.
