The MIT graduate school interview process typically involves an assessment of the applicant's academic achievements, research experience, and potential fit for the program. Applicants often submit a detailed application, letters of recommendation, and academic transcripts. Those shortlisted may be invited for interviews, which can be one-on-one with faculty or group sessions. Interviews assess the candidate's knowledge in their field, research interests, and interpersonal skills. The process aims to identify candidates who can excel academically and contribute meaningfully to MIT's research community.

Question 1
Experience with Research and whether it led to publications
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at MIT (Cambridge, MA) in Jan 2023
Interview
The interview process overall was poorly constructed. The position I applied for took 7 interviews over the course of around 2 months, where I was finally told I have the position. They then went back on their word and declined me when another applicant rolled down the pipeline weeks later.

Question 1
Just know the details of your research experience and you should be fine.
Long. Multiple rounds, over the course of 6 weeks. Once they decided they liked me, they hired an internal candidate for the initial position I applied for, and then quickly had me apply for another position that I received an offer for.
