      Inbound Customer Care/Sales Representative Interview

      Jun 3, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Johnson City, TN
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lumen (Johnson City, TN) in May 2013

      Interview

I completed my application online which took between 3-4 hours. There is the background info section along with uploading your resume and filling out an application with the same info. You then have to complete several assessments within 5 days of submitting the first part of the application. The assessments included basic skills testing of your math, writing, reading, and comprehension then you have several lengthy personality tests where you have to pick which sentence best describes you so on and so forth. As the last assessments you are given 30 minutes to complete 4 simulated customer service calls where you must navigate through the simulated systems and answer customer questions your speed and accuracy determines your score of this simulation. After fully submitting my application and assessments I received an email from a recruiting agent from CenturyLink asking when I was available for a phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 20-30 minutes and we discussed the info I had submitted online and why it is that I was interested in CenturyLink. The interviewing processed was then explained to me and I was told I would be doing an interview with two supervisors the first part of the interview would be looking over my application and/or resume then move on to a behavioral/personality questions where they give you a scenario and you explain the steps you take or you are asked to describe a time when you have had to deal with a specific type of customer (angry, irate, frustrated, confused etc.) as the final part of the interview you are given a product of CenturyLink that you must sell to the interviewers as if it were a customers call. They give you a product and some info about it and give you 10 minutes by yourself to create your sales pitch. This was all told to me before my interview and I was sent two emails with information to help me prepare for the interview and on how to best answer the type of questions they would be asking. After the interview I was told the recruiter had 24-48 hours to contact me to let me know if I was going to be offered a position on not. After being offered the position I had two emails I had to respond to in 48 hours on was accepting the job offer the other was calling to set a time to take a drug test which must be completed within the same 48 hours.
