Basic, it's an entry level retail job. What's your strengths and weaknesses. Explain the time when you made a bad decision. Explain a time when you went out of your way to help a customer. HR did take a long time to process the new hires when the sales floor was needing a lot of help.
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Saint Joseph, MO) in Jun 2012
Interview
First you apply for the position your wanting online and because I worked in the store of course everyone knows that store employees have first call. Then I had 3 interviews, 1 with the HR manager, 1 with a lead supervisor, and 1 with the store manager. They like when you look them in the eyes, and make sure you don't say i dont know to a question. The hiring squad is intimidating. But also make sure you dont act like you know more than they do, or you wont get it.
I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Watertown, NY) in Feb 2008
Interview
The initial job posting was internal, with application process starting online. Once all the applications have been received during the posting period, interviews were scheduled. All potential candidates were required to take a leadership skills assessment test prior to being interviewed. The interview itself consisted of a set of standardized questions pertaining to both the position and being a manager in general. My perceptions of the senior management staff that conducted the interview were that it was a very ordinary, run of the mill interview for them.
