I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Kansas City, MO)
Interview
Scheduling the interview was difficult. We played phone tag for a day or two, but after it was scheduled, the process was professional. The HR took notes, and the store Mgr asked questions from an interview guide. They were great questions mostly related to helping in out of the ordinary situations or finding the root causes of employee performance. There were aprox 10 questions which took about an hour to hour and fifteen.

Question 1
He asked one question that wasn't on the interview guide at the end. What would your morning meeting be like? It just caught me off guard a bit with its simplicity, but completely open ended nature.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (New Orleans, LA) in Sep 2012
Interview
I put in an app, and they called me 3 days afterwards. They wanted me to interview to drive the forklift, but when i went to the interview the HR manager said she needed more cashiers than any other position. She asked would i mind being a cashier since i'm a woman. I didn't like the switch but i said hey, i need a job, so i'll take it if you hire me in a sarcastic way. She said just go to the computer and submit an app for the position. she complimented me and said she loved my personality, she asked some decent questions, the SCENARIO questions like... name a time when... things of that sort. afterwards, i did a second interview with store manager he liked my personality also. the HR manager had my background check pending. She called me in 2 days and said come do drug test and afterwards told me to come to orientation....
