I applied online. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Virginia)
Interview
I was first contacted by a 'stand-in' HR person, who scheduled an interview. The interview was mainly questions involving situational experience such as: "Describe a time when you made a mistake and what did you do?", "Describe a time when you worked with a co-worker on a project and how did you make sure the project was finished as expected", Describe a time when you went out of your way to help a customer", etc. I was then called back in a few weeks for an interview with the Admin manager, who asked the same type of questions. There is a grading scale for answers (though it would seem a bit subjective, depending on who is doing the interview). I think it took a week or two for them to call with the job offer.

Question 1
Describe a time when a customer was unhappy with something and how did you handle it?
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Hopkinsville, KY) in Mar 2013
Interview
They usually contact you pretty quick if you are going to be interviewed. You go in for your first interview, usually with the HR, it lasts around 30 minutes. They will ask you a series of questions ranging from every day situations to only occasional situations. If they select you for another interview, you will be contacted usually about one week. You will then interview with the assistant store manager that covers the position in which you applied. It is basically the same questions as the first interview and lasts around 30 minutes. If they think you will be a good addition the team, they will have you come in for drug screening, which is done in store.

Question 1
The hardest question for me is always one of two. The first one is a time you went above and beyond to help a customer, and the other one is a time when a coworker made you feel insignificant or criticized your ability to complete your job.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Mill Hall, PA) in Jan 2010
Interview
I applied for the job over the internet. I received a phone call asking if I would come in for an interview. I spoke to the HR Manager, the Front End Manager, and the Store Manager. Of course, the experience was very nerve wracking, as I hate interviews, but everyone was very nice. It wasn't a bad experience, even though I'm very shy. I got the job!

Question 1
I just remember the Front End Manager asking a lot about what I would do in certain situations and what I've done in certain situations. It was kind of hard to think like that on my feet, but it wasn't too hard. I just emphasized teamwork and getting along with everybody. Lowe's prides itself on being a team and a family.
