Applied online through LinkedIn & received an assignment to be submitted within deadline. Completed the test and submitted the same. Received a call asking for a face-to-face meeting (assuming I cleared the test?). Had to follow up with the Marketing Manager for setting up the interview (first red flag). Got a confirmation for personal interview albeit with a disclaimer : GET YOUR LAPTOP FOR TEST. (Second red flag) Appeared for the personal interview which ended in 15 minutes. Test? Well, I was informed that they already have the case study papers and I wouldn't need to appear for a test. Then why was I asked to carry a laptop? While leaving, the Manager said expect a call from the HR by the end of the week. It's been 2 weeks since, and there has been no communication whatsoever. Granted, it's the private enterprise pejorative whom to hire or not, for whatever reasons - fair or unfair; but for a company that banks on same day delivery and claims to be revolutionizing technology, transportation & logistics, your HR & Marketing Team operate in complete contrast to the company philosophy, mission, vision and values.
All it takes is a single message/call/email to inform the candidate about the offer - accepted, rejected, on hold. Not only does it help him/her restart job exploration process but also assists in understanding what went wrong during the interview as a lesson for posterity. Least an organisation can do is, COMMUNICATE. It instills goodwill & keeps prospects open for future opportunities. Remember, the candidate also consumes his money, time, resources (laptop) to prepare for the interview.
In hindsight, and going by the latest review, not getting a call proved to be a blessing in disguise. Received a better offer. Would not have been able to work with an unprofessional team.
