I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kroger in Jul 2016
Interview
I applied on the website, it was fairly straightforward and nothing out of the ordinary, it included one of those personality quizzes common for this time of entry-level jobs and this one was one of the better ones (read: not boring, the Lowes one, for example, killed my will to live). A couple of days later I got a call from Kroger's recruiting office for the division I applied for where I was told again what the position was (part-time cashier), asked if that's something I could do and if I was still interested and a couple of quick questions (why do I want to work for Kroger, what's important when dealing with customers), etc. and I we set up an interview time at the store I applied to work at. A couple of days later I went to the store for the interview where I talked to their HR person. We chatted a little, I was only really asked a couple of standard interview questions (tell me a little about yourself, why do I want to work there, etc.) and I was immediately offered the job which I accepted, signed some paperwork and did the saliva drug swab test as well as agreed to have a background check done. I was told to come back the next day to start with my training.
I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kroger (Atlanta, GA) in May 2016
Interview
Manages were very friendly and professional in the beginning. The process was long due to the background check and making sure I have many pharmacy license. I feel that I didn't have enough training because I felt it was rushed.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kroger (Portland, OR) in Oct 2015
Interview
HR representatives are very busy at Kroger. These professionals often do not have time to answer potential new hire questions and concerns, make sure to follow up with the department after the interview. I walked back to the HR department and made sure they hired me, it seemed like someone had forgotten to contact me. Either way I took the position, it was a good experience overall. Customer service in a retail setting is good experience, no matter where your career motivations and/ or aspirations are located.
