I was referred to Kayak and was given the email of the team manager directly. I shared my CV and covering letter with said person and we scheduled a phone call. The phone call lasted 40mins and we had a casual chat about my experience and ambitions to join Kayak. A few days later I was asked to come to their offices to "meet a few people". I met literally all the different teams which was great and felt very familiar and close-knit but at the same time, having to talk to 5 different people asking the same questions over again can get a bit dire. Anyway, the interview took all morning so I stayed there for 3.5h.
I was then asked to come back for another interview directly with the team leader who stayed for a few days in London. I was given a laptop with a French keyboard (which took some time getting used to) and had to do some Excel Formula (concatenate, vlookup and trim), and a powerpoint presentation with some data and questions regarding DFP.
A couple of days later I was offered the job and started a few weeks later. However, after a couple of months, my manager ambushed me and I was made redundant. I didn't see that coming because feedback was always positive and I was never asked to follow an improvement plan.
I felt motivated and I took another job to extended my experience and worked hard on myself to improve professionally. After some time, I reapplied for my old job at Kayak, because it seems they can't fill my position with my specific language. The job has been vacant since they've made me redundant over a year ago and their new HR person is desperately overpromoting the job on LinkedIn for months now. I've emailed said person once if it would be possible to have a chat and the reply was rather short and brusquely that they were "interviewing final candidates". Only to see four days later another desperate post on Linkedin to advertise the position again. I've offered again as I have all the required experience and training for the job, but never received a reply.
Having worked there, I can, however, confirm, that Kayak ghosts candidates after interviews and tend to not reply to them once the company is no longer interested in candidates.
