Interview
A corporate recruiter who I had no connection with contacted me through LinkedIn, which I thought was strange. I came in and met with two people. My recruiter had told me over the phone that the interview would be casual and conversation-driven. They don't ask questions except maybe, "Where are you from?" They had my resume, but didn't ask about any of my work history. Small talk for a loooong time. I think you are supposed to tell the interviewer how much you want to work for their company. I had lots of questions ready as they had advised me before the interview, but when I asked about the company and the position, they didn't seem to want to talk about that much. It's an interview for the prospective employee, too, and I think they forget that.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Insight Global (Charlotte, NC) in Feb 2014
Interview
I had a phone interview from an Insight Global corporate recruiter on a Monday. The phone interview was standard: Tell me about yourself, what motivates you, why did you choose this position. The recruiter was very enthusiastic about recruiting. He liked what he heard from me and set up a face-to-face interview with the Charlotte, NC branch.
The face-to-face interview was set for a Wednesday. Their office was located in uptown Charlotte. I waited in their "lobby" for about 10mins. The office had no receptionist and seemed empty. I heard people in random rooms interviewing and talking. Eventually someone came out and greeted me. I then went into a conference room for about 10-15mins by myself. Finally, an account manager met with me and we headed to another conference room to start the interview.
The account manager was very energetic and upbeat. She was interested in me and my personality. She described her role and what to expect as a recruiter. Her energy was great and she painted an attractive picture of what Insight Global was all about.
I then met with two other account managers; separately. Each person I met with had never seen my resume before meeting with me. It almost seemed like no one knew I was coming in for an interview. They all went through a similar interview format; asking the same type of questions and explaining their position with the company. At the end of each of the conversations I asked: "After getting to know me is their any reason I wouldn't be able to move forward in the hiring process"? All responded with no, you have the passion and drive we are looking for.
After meeting with the account managers I sent them a follow up email thanking them for their time and how I would be a perfect fit for their branch. I never received a response from any of them. I then followed up with a phone call early in the week and no one answered. I felt that the interviews went well, but I still have yet to get any response from them.
