I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at IBM (Nairobi) in Mar 2014
Interview
I interviewed with a professor at my undergraduate university. I didn't have to interview again with IBM since I was shortlisted among a group of 6 students forwarded to IBM. I think the thing that helped me get the position was my leadership position and academic qualifications. I believe the process would have been different if I had interviewed with IBM.
First IPAT test which is kind of like an IQ test, then on-site interview, I was asked some algorithms like in order search. Final round asked some machine learning algorithms. The interview overall was not difficult, if you do some leetcode you will find it pretty easy
