I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at HelloFresh
Interview
The Telephone call with the HR was great.. all went well.. the task is pretty much good and nice.. not easy not hard. i finished it in 5 hours approx.. then the feedback came after 10 days .. with 4 comments from the (Expert) pointing to some "typos" in my code.. I mean this was the worst interviewing process I saw yet and literally can damage an average person self esteem , to make a no-go and reject someone over typos and small mistakes and let go the whole effort that makes me avoid you again for the rest of my life .
but well that's not surprising for a company that makes big effort to make the chicken taste bad. :) common guys. checkin are straight forward and did no typos to torture it that much .. even my son can make chicken taste better :)
anyway.. if you want to take the risk of someone rejecting you over some "Typos" .. be my guest .. but don't beat your self up..
Morbid waste of time!
I was reached out from another job search marketplace where I had already listed my desired salary AND my prior working experiences in my profile. During the recruiter call, she kept downplaying my prior working experiences to try to set the salary expectations much lower and kept emphasizing that I hastily push through with their interview process and try to get the coding challenge done in one day's time. So I finished it over the night; putting any other plans on hold. The next morning I see my interview profile on the job search marketplace was closed by them (which could only mean I haven't made it to the next round). I emailed her for an update to see what she says and she replies that she's going to reach out to the manager for the next steps, which is very suspicious. I haven't heard back since.
It doesn't seem like their interview process is well coordinated and transparent overall, and I'd advise anyone else who interviews with them to look for these red flags during the recruiter call before even committing energy and time to the next steps in their process.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
LC medium/hard: All subarray combinations that meet a criteria of an initial master array
Easy: Make a series of http get requests to compose an array of string data (hardest part was the integrated environment and having to use its pre-built libraries)
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh (Berlín) in Apr 2020
Interview
Round #1: HR Call with usual debriefing drill
Round #2: Have to choose either of "Take home test" or "Live Coding". I went with the Take Home Test option
Advise for candidates who have applied: Don't go for the Github task option; it's a trap. You would be losing your time and your intellectual property for nothing most of the time. Better venture for live coding.
