I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh
Interview
4 rounds to the interview, phone call, excel test which was just pivot tables, interviews with a manager which was half a situational test and then an interview with senior managers which was a more challenging interview.
I had to go through 6 steps (1.5 month) just to discover the position was not given to any of the candidate because of lack of budget. Not professional at all.

Interview
[Racism Behavior]
During the initial interview with HR staff, she stated that while I had an interesting background and the necessary technical skills, the company would only want to hire someone who spoke 'perfect French' since the team is all French people. This raised an immediate red flag, as my language proficiency meets the job requirements and should not be reduced merely to my non-French ethnic background.
When I explained that I have successfully collaborated with French teams before despite my French still needing improvement, she doubled down on the discriminatory comments. She disrespectfully suggested my French would only be acceptable for working with the Berlin team or 'having lunch' with French colleagues - clearly implying my language abilities were insufficient simply due to my origins.
As someone putting in genuine effort to find employment and learn a second language, I found these small-minded, discriminatory remarks by a HR representative to be humiliating and unprofessional. It goes entirely against the company's stated values of promoting diversity and inclusion. No candidate should be bluntly told they are unfit for a role solely based on their ethnicity or made to feel demeaned about their language skills if they meet the requirements.
