I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh (New York, NY) in May 2018
Interview
After a very nice and discriptive phone discussion with a recruiter we scheduled tech screening. It was quite straightforward, coding question wasn't hard and the feedback was positive.
The following skype interview with two engineers was weird. Probably the weirdest interview I had this year. Once again the coding question was super simple. Something about parsing json from API response (I do it at work every day). But then they asked a lot of purely theoretical questions and expected the exact responses - like in the textbook. Sometimes it was quite ridiculous.
- In order to achieve this, you have to inject dependencies during object creating process.
- And how this methodology is called?
:) Obviously, it's called a dependency injection (just a fancy word for passing arguments).
A couple of school level questions like "Can you create an instance of an abstract class?" Or "Why do you need an interface?".
After the interview I had an impression that they are actually looking for someone who will teach theory at high school.

Question 1
Fetch some API and parse the result. Nothing special.
I submitted my resume approximately 2 days before I received an email asking for a phone interview which happened very shortly after. The interviewer was very friendly on the phone call and asked me what I knew about HelloFresh and about myself. On the phone we scheduled a face to face interview for the following week and that interview was in office and pretty casual lasted 30 min but just basic interview questions!

Question 1
Tell me about yourself, What do you know about HelloFresh?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at HelloFresh (Berlín) in May 2018
Interview
Applied through Glassdoor. First round of HR screening. Basic questions on background and current project. Second round, they sent the assignment which was to be completed in 5 days. It was open ended tests where one has to create a UI and API framework from scratch. Submitted the code through Github.
Couple of days later got email saying they have decided to move forward with another candidate. No feedback provided. I thought I did a fair job for the tests, and since it was open ended tests I was hoping to get into next round to discuss why I did certain things in certain way.
Tried to followup with HR on feedback but got no response. Very unprofessional.
