I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh in Oct 2018
Interview
I applied online. I got an test invitation email to negotiated the test time 3 days later. Then, on the day of the test, the hiring manager sent me a test document( SQL questions + business case). The SQL questions are based on a database consisting of 5 tables. The business case is about audience targeting, cost and revenue calculation. After the test, I got a video interview invitation after one week and then I had a video interview with the hiring manager. He asked me some questions about the SQL, product analysis metrics. After one week, I got an onsite inverview. Three team members from the product team had 1v1 discussion with me. One is about the A/B testing, one is about my past data analysis experience and one is about SQL & Python questions.

Question 1
What is the difference between Union and Union All in SQL? What is cross join in SQL?
I told the recruiter My salary expectation which was $130. She said it was slightly outside the range and asked if I was flexible. I said “slightly but I can’t go less than $125. She said she’d get back to me after speaking with the hiring manager. I was surprised and hopeful to see that they wanted an interview.
I arrived at the office in Newark and the front desk had no idea I was supposed to be there. Finally what looked like a 12 year old girl came to greet me. I go upstairs and wait in a generic waiting room. I was not offered water or use of the restroom.
I was then called in by a young gentleman from hr to meet with him and the hiring manager. The hiring manager had his computer open the entire time ... typing away. He was googling things as I spoke and probably emailing the young girl that smirked and left the office prior to the hr manager and I getting ready to enter.
We all spoke for 45 min and the conversation flowed well and it seemed exciting and positive despite the lack of respect with the computer. Then salary was brought up by the hiring manager. He also said “I see we recruited you in” which was interesting because I had applied on my own. He then Reviewed my 130k expectation and asked if there was any flexibility. I said some but less than 10k. He said “well to be honest that’s way outside our range, the max we would pay for this position would be 110k for a Perfect Candidate, but I’m sorry I wasted your time “. Some small talk occurred after that and it seemed insincere and shallow on the hiring managers part.
Once the interview was over, The hr manager then pretty much showed me to the door with no indication of how to get back to the front lobby.
This was the WORST experience and as others have said I would not have accepted if it was offered. Unprofessional is a severe understatement.
If you’re over 30 years old with a strong sold background and work experience DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME IN ROMPER ROOM DAYCARE.
If this is how a candidate is treated in an interview I could not even imagine how the employees are treated.
