I applied online. I interviewed at HelloFresh (Indianapolis, IN) in Dec 2018
Interview
I first had a phone interview, then met for an in person interview the following week. It was quick and to the point! I fell more in love with the company.

Question 1
How comfortable are you working long hours and up to six days a week?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh in Nov 2018
Interview
It was a pretty straightforward process. It took roughly 4 weeks.
1) I did an interview with tech HR, we chatted for roughly 30~35 minutes, asking questions regarding my experience and knowledge of some topics. No technical questions, just "Have you worked with/have knowledge of SOLID principles?" type questions. It was pretty chill and I felt somewhat relaxed. I felt that for a HR spokeperson, he knew the answers to the questions he was talking about.
2) I did a coding test. It was rather complicated because there are some aspects of it that I had never done before (TDD specifically). It's very comprehensive but really isn't complex at all. The coding test is about doing a REST API without using a framework. I felt it was a pretty good way to do it because it was realistic and an actual test of your skills, instead of a random Leetcode/HackerRank question. Then it was reviewed was someone else. They decided to continue the process.
3) An interview with the head of a department. We chatted for roughly an hour and talked about my experience and the test itself. How difficult it was, problems I encoutered, feedback he had, what he liked. It was a pretty nice talk because the interviewer and I had similar backgrounds, so he had a good understanding of what I was taught at my college and how much I needed to learn to get to where I am now. I think this was my favorite part about the process, I was set up with an interviewer that would understand it the better.
4) There was a final interview with the Director of Engineering, it was pretty straightforward. He asked several hypothetical questions and gauged how I'd ask. He gave me his feedback regarding my answers, and was overall someone swell to talk to. This interview had technical questions and cultural questions.
The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh (Berlín)
Interview
Various phone and online interviews followed by an onsite with 5 or 6 different people.
Communication along the way was dire.
At the onsite day, the recruiter had forgotten I had an interview and the reception people were not there. Eventually my interviewing manager was found - she had been sat wondering where I was.
The interview with her was good. She clearly understood the role and what she was looking for. I found her knowledge impressive. The room itself was an airless, super hot glass pod. Both of us found it extremely uncomfortable. I was to spend the next few hours in this 'room', while various far less competent interviewers came and went. Most of which consisted of random, irrelevant questions.
In the final interview, one of the panel kept trying to gain information from me about a competitor company I had worked for. I thought this was unethical and disloyal so I dodged the question. Which clearly irritated her.
On leaving I was asked "do you want to have a look around".. I said I did and was reluctantly dragged around the building at high speed. It was easy to see why they wanted to avoid doing this. The place was a chaotic shambles with row upon row of stressed looking staff and people literally running around like headless chicken.
One other thing, the lack of diversity there is blatant. Aside from the senior manager, nearly everyone I saw was mid twenties and white. Which is shockingly homogeneous even for tech.
