I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Google (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2018
Interview
Conference call with screen sharing with one senior ux researcher for a researcher assistant role. The process was a little bit long to have a feedback. I'm still waiting for it. The interview takes an hour. The most frustrating was the screen sharing to do the exercice. You have to tell the recruiter how to do and what do you want to do.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Menlo Park, CA) in Apr 2018
Interview
Applied for the position online and got contacted by a recruiter within a few days. The recruiter set up a phone screen immediately and went over the logistics. She passed along my info to the scheduler for them to set up the interview with a team member. Had the phone interview after a week or so and was mainly asked about my previous projects, my experience with different methods, etc. I waited for another week to hear from the recruiter that the team they'd matched me with did not have immediate openings so they decided not to further pursue my candidacy.
The recruiter was highly professional, friendly and communicative. The interviewer I talked with seemed busy typing notes for the most part and did not express much enthusiasm. Had some awkward silences in between. He didn't introduce himself (or was not supposed to) and the questions were mostly prompted on the spot or rolled out according to my answers. Wish I had more say in the team choice.

Interview
I applied for a contract UX Researcher role and had an initial phone call with the Research Manager. I was then invited for an in-person interview with the same Research Manager and another UX Researcher who asked me a range of questions about my previous experience and about different research methods.
